Residential Concreting in Darwin
The Same Crew That Builds Darwin's Hospitals Builds Your Driveway
Most of our work is commercial concreting: hospitals, schools, government facilities and high-rise apartment buildings. But residential concreting has always been part of what we do, and residential clients get the same crew and the same standards as every other job we take on.
T & M Concretors has been delivering residential concreting in Darwin for more than 45 years. House slabs, driveways, patios, pool surrounds and shed floors. We handle the full scope of residential concrete work. Darwin's soils and seasonal conditions add complexity that requires local knowledge, and our crew has been working in this environment long enough to know what a residential slab needs to perform over the long term.
We're not the cheapest option in Darwin, and we're not trying to be. If you want a driveway that's still looking good in ten years, call us on (08) 8941 8819.

Residential Concrete Work We Cover
House Slabs
Footings and floor slabs for new residential builds across Darwin. We work from engineering drawings and coordinate with your builder on programme. Raft, waffle pod and conventional slab systems all within our scope. See our suspended and ground slabs for more on slab systems.
Driveways
Concrete driveways laid to last in Darwin's conditions. We offer standard broom finish, exposed aggregate and other decorative options depending on your brief and budget. See our exposed aggregate and decorative for finish options.
Patios & Entertaining Areas
Outdoor concrete slabs for patios, alfresco areas and entertaining spaces. Finish, drainage and edge detailing all considered as part of the scope, not afterthoughts.
Shed Floors & Outbuildings
Concrete slabs for garages, sheds, carports and outbuildings. Sized and reinforced to suit the intended use — whether that's a standard domestic garage or a larger workshop floor.
Built Like a Commercial Job. Priced Like a Residential One.
The processes we apply to a residential job are the same ones we use on commercial projects. Sub-base preparation, reinforcement placement, mix design, curing — these aren't steps you skip on a smaller job if you want the concrete to perform.
Darwin's reactive soils and wet season create real problems for residential slabs that haven't been properly designed and laid. We've seen plenty of driveways and patios that have cracked or lifted within a few years because corners were cut early on. Our structural formwork background also means we're equipped for residential builds that involve more complexity: split-level homes, elevated slabs or challenging site conditions.

Common Questions About Residential Concreting
A standard residential driveway in Darwin is typically 100mm thick for regular passenger vehicle use, with thickened edges of 150–200mm to provide additional strength at the perimeter. If the driveway needs to accommodate heavier vehicles — utes, trailers, delivery trucks or similar — a thickness of 125–150mm with appropriate reinforcement is generally recommended. The sub-base preparation beneath the slab is equally important, particularly on Darwin's reactive or sandy soils where ground movement can affect the slab over time.
